this is the second part of my story called pEOPLE, of which the first part was recently in keyhole digest (go back two posts to see post about it):

Sally sold a rhinoceros sculpture to Danielle Steel.

Paul is autistic.

Angel thought he was Hispanic for a long time but then found out his parents were German.

Nemi accidentally sees condom packets at WaWa. When she gets home, she masturbates in the bathroom with the door locked.

At the shop, Angel hides amongst the inventory crates while the foreman walks the concrete calling his name.

Roy has five children and two of them have children. One of Roy's children is younger than her nephew.

Elizabeth bikes to the grocery store and buys more stuff than she can carry home. Outside mounting her bike, Liz feels pessimistic about her future.

Franklin mentally envisions his name all the time. He has conversations in his head in which great mysteries of the universe get solved and forgets to buy milk. At home his Darjeeling black tea is too strong.

Johan washes his feet in the bathtub and thinks about the effect walking barefoot has on the health of his long slender body. He has arguments ready if anyone should call him a hippie or a pussy.

An older man invites Francesca over for dinner. She walks down the hallway and knocks on his door.

i have a short story up on wunderkammer which is a poetry website that kathryn regina is doing a project on for the next two weeks. the project is something about pictures of writers when they were kids, doing something. so each writer has a picture from being a kid and someone else from the chosen group has been assigned to write a little story inspired by the picture, and all the corresponding things are posted together on a particular day.

so, today my story is up along with the corresponding picture of della watson painting a barn when she was a kid. i think later on there will be a picture of me up with text written by somebody, so keep checking back.

update:

i was a contestant on HTMLGIANT's 'Explain Yourself' segment for the barn story: click here to see it

keyhole digest

i have a story in keyhole magazine's october digest. keyhole describes their digest project like this:

Keyhole Digest is a monthly printout, distributed for free in Nashville. Each month we'll fit as many stories and poems as possible onto a single sheet of paper, fold it into thirds, and hand it out. The PDFs will be available here indefinitely. Feel free to print, fold, and hand them out yourself, wherever you are.

fiction / nonfiction

in answering an interviewer's question 'So the second you write something down, it's fiction', Tom Waits said:
There is no such thing as nonfiction. There is no such thing as truth. People who really know what happened aren't talking. And the people who don't have a clue, you can't shut them up. It's the same with your own stories, the ones that circulate around with your family and your friends.

the next question was: Do you keep a notebook?
Oh yeah, everybody does! Life is too confusing. Monkey wrenches, pocket knives, dog food, instant coffee, lipstick. You gotta get it organized somehow.
